• What are some of BRS's most notable accomplishments in the past few years?

    • Bond improvements totaling $6.2M to upgrade facilities, grounds, security, technology and fuel-efficient buses
    • School campus consolidation increasing vertical articulation/collaboration and resource-alignment between K-12 teachers
    • Installation of weekly Professional Learning Communities increasing teachers’ focus on research-based, data-driven, high-quality, subject-specific, Tier I instruction
    • Board-adopted syllabi, course outlines, scope and sequences, pacing guides for K-12 English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies subjects (elective courses slated for Board-adoption fall 2019)
    • Board-adopted MI-Excel Blueprint for Systems Reconfiguration enhancing our efforts to improve efficiency and excellence throughout the system to meet students’ academic and social/emotional/behavioral needs
    • Installation of Educational Support Teams at both schools that meet consistently to address needs of all students
    • Installation of Department of Health and Human Services Office and Pathways to Potential Program Facilitator in elementary school
    • Installation of an additional psychologist from Mid-Michigan Health Care Services
    • Installation of Student Success Coaches at both schools
    • Full-Scale Active Intruder Training and Trauma-Informed Schools Training for all staff
    • Additional safety/security upgrades to windows/doors via additional 2019 grant funding
    • Continued partnership with the Beaverton Activity Center, greatly benefitting our students, staff, and community
    • School Nurse funded by Mid-Michigan Health Care Services; examination bench donated by MMHCS
    • Creation of a District Health Advisory Board
    • Procurement of School Resource Officer (funded by City of Beaverton & At-Risk Grant)
    • The district recently received $250,000, via the Marshall Plan for Talent Grant, that will provide Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education, career awareness, exposure to engineering activities (robotics, 3D printing), and an introduction to entrepreneurship, STEM technology innovations, design innovations, coding, and an introduction to agriscience. This enhancement to instructional programming aligns perfectly with Beaverton’s local plastics manufacturing industry and agricultural demographic.
