Dear Beaverton Schools Community,
As we quickly approach the start of the new school year, an obstacle we must overcome is the ongoing road construction on M-18 (Ross St.) and Tonkin Street. Due to this construction, our Tonkin Street entrance, which is our main bus entrance, will remain closed for several months. This closure forces us to reroute buses, and adjust pick up and drop off procedures for students. We have created a tentative plan and map in order to educate our stakeholders about these new, temporary procedures. Our plan is to release this information to the public next week, after review of these procedures by county officials on Tuesday.
Thank you!

Dear Staff, Board, and Community,
In response to the water main break, which caused three additional cancellation days last week, the Michigan Department of Education has forgiven us two of three days. It has also been confirmed that since we scheduled 181 days of instruction this year, we are not, at this time, required to make up the third day. If, in the event of an additional cancellation between now and the last day of school, we still can request an additional waiver of up to one school day.

THERE AND BACK: The BJSHS juniors and seniors who made the weekend trip to the nation's capitol are returning today, but Teacher Erica Sprague, one of several adult chaperones, checked in with this photo and an update: "We were in Washington, D.C. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We toured Arlington, the Capitol building and all of the big memorials. This trip was about 18 months in the making, and our students represented the school so well; I am so proud of those kids. The event was a great opportunity for our students to get out and see the world, and I’m hoping to continue it for years to come."

RAISE AND RELEASE: Fourth-graders closed the books on a six-month science project raising salmon that called for investigation, observation and patience. Lots and lots of patience. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/YzQxhVE_0n4.
