HAT TRICK: There was plenty of Beaverton sweat poured into last weekend's Gladiators youth hockey district, which saw the area 10U, 12U and 14U teams sweeping their way to the state tournament. Beaverton players include Weston Eagan, Blake Simpson, Gunner Sarles, Danielle Cornell, Peyton Card, Corbin Harris, Hunter Eagan, Cameron Oard and Parker Woods. Great job and good luck moving on.

PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER...: Snow days delayed the party, but BJSHS staff celebrated December's Students of the Month this morning. Honorees include, l to r: Ethan Henry, Emily Colvin, Addisyn Barth, Gabe Drudge, Ragen Burgess, Brendan Seguin, Callen Martin and Nicholas Smith. GRIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT: There's an unusual (some might even say uncomfortable) amount of blue roaming our halls this morning, but that's okay - it's Honolulu Blue. Beaverton staff and students are all in on those hard-hitting Detroit Lions and they aren't shy about showing it. Can't believe we have to wait six whole days for the next win.

WELCOME TO BOOMTOWN: Students in Mrs. Sprague's Science class ran a project this week that incorporated not only the chemistry of fireworks, but other areas of study like fire safety, local politics and the economy. Their job was to convince local city leaders of the fictional city of Boomtown (real-life adult volunteers) that they could put on a safe and entertaining fireworks show for the community. #Boom #GoBeavers

Boy's and Girl's varsity basketball doubleheader AT Gladwin has been rescheduled for TOMORROW, 1/16. Girl's will start at 6:00 pm with the Boy's game following.

VOLUNTEER VITTLES: Every couple weeks, members of the BJSHS chapter of the National Honor Society gather in the cafeteria and package food for Beaverton students who need it. Weekends and days off are tough on some families' food supplies, and the NHS Backpack program helps those kids get through those times until they return to school. Food is supplied by Chartwells. #BeavertonCares #NHS

BORN TO RUN: Big doings at BJSHS today as Senior Tessa Wohlschlegel signed her letter of intent to run at Ferris State University this fall. Tessa - the school's cross country ladies' record holder, state finalist and academic standout - was joined by her parents, Coach Nicki Walters, family and friends for the event. (And her consecutive day running streak stands at 1,258, so yeah, she'll be running later today.) Congrats to Tessa, an absolute lock to succeed in life. #BeavertonAlways

TEACHERS AND WOULD-BE TEACHERS: Beaverton is a regional host in conjunction with several local and state partners for a “Want to be a Teacher?” event aimed at people who are considering this essential career. Whether you’re a current teacher who wants to expand your repertoire or someone who’s entertaining the idea of entering the field, join us at BJSHS Jan. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. to find out what it takes. Several other virtual and in-person options are available for the meeting as well. Register by visiting bit.ly/4akjZ4I or calling 989.386.8625. The session is free; light snacks will be offered. #GoTeachers

GRATEFUL: On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we want to thank all of the local folks in blue, none more than Beaverton P.D. Officers Doyle and Cingano, who help keep our campus secure and our kids safe as our School Resource Officers. Whether they're teaching safety lessons in classrooms, conducting home visits or keeping the peace in the hallways, our SROs do an essential job, and they do it very well. Thank you for all you do for our kids every day, officers. #Appreciation #GoBeavers

'UNSUNG HEROES': It's School Board Recognition Month, and we want to acknowledge the often-difficult and unheralded-yet-essential work done by the Beaverton Board of Education. Check out the full story here: https://bit.ly/48ERD3u. Heartfelt thanks to you all. #GoBeavers

In a thrilling display of precision and skill, Beaverton Senior, Kaelyn Fischer, emerged as a standout performer at the Mid Winter Classic, claiming the prestigious 3rd place. The bowling lanes echoed with the thunderous sound of strikes as Kaelyn navigated the competition with finesse. Her top scores included a 150, 170, 171, and 168. Congrats to all of the bowlers today!

PEACE: This holiday season, try to slow down. Relax. Enjoy your loved ones. And...
breathe. Your friends at Beaverton Schools thank you for helping make our successes possible this year, and we wish you a prosperous and joyful 2024.
