THERE AND BACK: The BJSHS juniors and seniors who made the weekend trip to the nation's capitol are returning today, but Teacher Erica Sprague, one of several adult chaperones, checked in with this photo and an update: "We were in Washington, D.C. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We toured Arlington, the Capitol building and all of the big memorials. This trip was about 18 months in the making, and our students represented the school so well; I am so proud of those kids. The event was a great opportunity for our students to get out and see the world, and I’m hoping to continue it for years to come."

RAISE AND RELEASE: Fourth-graders closed the books on a six-month science project raising salmon that called for investigation, observation and patience. Lots and lots of patience. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/YzQxhVE_0n4.

HERE'S TO TWO: A pair of Beaverton's shining seniors - Gage Spencer and Wade Herren-Howard - were lauded at Thursday's TurnAround Achievement Awards, presented by the Clare-Gladwin Area School Board Association. The TurnAround Awards recognize students from local districts who have overcome significant obstacles in their academic and personal lives; recipients are chosen by BHS staff. Congratulations, gentlemen, for your perseverance and growth, and best of luck in the next phase of your lives. #Determination #GoBeavers

NATURE WALK: Since the sun came out and temperatures soared above 36 degrees today, about 120 BJSHS Science students took it outside, visiting the school forest on McCulloch Road. Their mission: Identify and catalog as many different trees as possible, as well as any other interesting examples of nature's splendor. They used guidebooks and cell phones to aid in the endeavor and came away impressed by the sheer variety of the forest. #GoBeavers

LIKE THE OSCARS MINUS THE RED CARPET: Beaverton was well-represented at Tuesday's CTE Student Excellence Awards, the culmination of an entire school year's worth of work for juniors and seniors. Check out the photos and list of awardees below, and #GoBeavers.

DEMOCRACY IN ACTION: It was Election Day at BJSHS as students stood in line, received their official ballots and cast their votes for various positions in student government. As with the last several years, a handful of local election officials were on site to give instructions, smooth the process and manage the ballots. Thanks to these volunteers for guiding our students through this valuable introduction to the election process: Vicki Richardson, Judy Brubaker, Katery Stoike, Kelly Avila, Shelle Brubaker and Deb Bergman. #GoBeavers #GoDemocracy

THE FUTURE IS NOW: At its banquet Monday, the Clare-Gladwin Future Farmers of America honored standout students for the year, and three Beavers brought home a bushel of accolades. Congrats to Hope Van Tiem, Sophie Milks and Jordyn Schultz, who was also elected chapter president for next year. #GoBeavers

VOICES CARRY: These distinguished BJSHS students were among those descending on the state capitol Tuesday as part of Youth Advocacy Day. These young people spoke to legislative representatives (including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer) on the benefits of funding Beaverton's School Wellness Program. #Wellness #GoBeavers

WE LEAD YOU LOUD AND CLEAR: A strong contingent of BHS students gathered today at the BAC for the National Honor Society Leadership Conference, which featured discussion, goal setting and fun. Also showcased was an impressive list of BHS alums and community members who spoke on their approach to leadership and commitment to the tenets of NHS. #BeavertonAlways
