Good morning, Beaverton.
Our schools are committed to the safety and education of all of our students and staff. We also want to clearly communicate with parents about safety procedures and precautions. This morning's lockdown training in both buildings was a critical thinking drill with staff & students.
In order to remember training and/or information, it helps if you see it, hear it, AND do it. The students & staff need to perform the drills to understand what they can do. Having this in mind, we need to make sure that all our faculty, staff, and students are prepared when facing a crisis situation. This was a collaborative effort between Beaverton Schools and the Beaverton City Police Department.
We ask that you discuss today's drill with your children and let us know if any follow-up is needed. We understand that it can be disheartening and scary for parents to discuss this topic with their kids, especially the youngest ones.
Thank you for your understanding and please feel free to call either building if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely, Joseph Passalacqua, Superintendent
